- hammer systems for inserting instruments into a glacier bed
- ice core lathe for clean, uniform surface preparation of ice cores
- various custom modifications to ice coring drill to enable drilling in fluid and drilling directly into a solid ice surface (no snow/firn layer)

- circuit board design software (schematic capture, layout, routing)
- In-house machine shop and electronics shop
- Local CNC-equipped contract machine shop with 4th-axis capability for manufacturing cutter heads and other complex forms
